Treaty One Territory, Manitoba – The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) Grand Chief Arlen Dumas was satisfied with today’s Provincial and Municipal announcement to enforce new public health orders to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in order to protect the health and safety of all Manitobans.

AMC Grand Chief Arlen Dumas said “We are experiencing a critical health situation that requires everyone to adhere to regulations put in place under the Public Health Act. It is good to see measures announced to ensure compliance as we need to flatten the curve. We need to take whatever measures possible to ensure that happens given the Health Canada projections we heard this morning that up to 44,000 Canadians could die in the months ahead. But I think it’s important to educate first, before handing out fines, especially when it comes to our First Nation homeless population in Winnipeg and other municipalities.”
