In Memoriam: Grand Chief Cathy Merrick
The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs honours the life and leadership of our late Grand Chief Cathy Merrick, who passed away in September of 2024. A proud member of Pimicikamak Cree Nation, Grand Chief Merrick dedicated her life to advocating for First Nations in Manitoba with unwavering strength, compassion, and vision. As the first woman elected to lead AMC, she broke barriers and championed the rights of our Nations, always guided by the teachings of our ancestors.
Her leadership, wisdom, and commitment to the well-being of our people will never be forgotten. We continue to walk the path she helped pave, carrying her spirit and legacy forward in all that we do.
Rest in power, Grand Chief Cathy Merrick.
