Treaty One Territory, Manitoba – On April 28, 2022, the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs Executive Council of Chiefs (“ECC”) met to discuss the investigation currently being undertaken at the AMC workplace. The workplace investigation is being completed by an independent party, but the investigators and the Complainant requested that the ECC provide direction regarding procedural steps involved in the investigation. This has caused a delay in the process.

While the ECC had hoped that the workplace investigation would be completed before the upcoming May 4, 2022, Special Chiefs-in-Assembly non-confidence vote, the investigation remains ongoing.

The Chiefs resolved to cancel the May 4, 2022, Special Chiefs Assembly and non-confidence vote and reschedule the Assembly to take place after the completion of the investigation.

The Executive Council of Chiefs remains committed to ensuring that the investigation is completed in a timely manner and that the AMC workplace is free of harassment.

Given the nature of this matter, no interviews or further statements will be offered at this time. The AMC will endeavour to provide timely updates in an ongoing manner when reasonably possible.
