Treaty One Territory, Manitoba – The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) issues this information as an update regarding the formal complaint against Grand Chief Arlen Dumas.
Today, the Executive Council of Chiefs appointed Shamattawa First Nation’s Chief Eric Redhead as the Acting Grand Chief of the AMC.
Earlier today, the AMC Personnel and Finance Committee held a meeting at the direction of the Executive Council of Chiefs. The Personnel and Finance Committee engaged the services of Manitoba Human Resource Lawyers to investigate the complaint. The Personnel and Finance Committee also identified temporary internal processes during the investigation and began the process for the review of existing workplace harassment policies and make amendments to them. It also started the review of the current provisions of the AMC Constitution.
Given the nature of this matter, no interviews or further statements will be offered at this time. The AMC will continue to endeavour to provide timely updates in an ongoing manner when reasonably possible.
