Treaty One Territory, Winnipeg, MB – On behalf of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC), I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Jason Colon on his appointment as Chief of Police for the Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS).
Chief Colon has demonstrated strength, humility, and commitment throughout his career, and his appointment comes at a critical time for First Nations in Manitoba. The work ahead requires leadership that not only understands policing but also respects the cultures, priorities, and lived realities of our Nations. Chief Colon has shown he is prepared to meet this responsibility with integrity and vision.
The MFNPS plays an essential role in ensuring that First Nations citizens receive policing services that are grounded in respect, accountability, and compassion. Chief Colon’s leadership will be central to strengthening trust, advancing safety, and upholding the rights and dignity of our peoples.
The AMC looks forward to working closely with Chief Colon and the MFNPS to ensure our communities continue to move forward in a spirit of collaboration, safety, and Nationhood. His leadership will be vital as we collectively strive to create safer, stronger First Nations for generations to come.
