Treaty One Territory, Manitoba – The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) joins the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) in celebrating the appointment of Regional Chief Paul Prosper of Nova Scotia to the Senate of Canada.

Regional Chief Paul Prosper has been serving as the Assembly of First Nations Regional Chief for Nova Scotia and Newfoundland since September 2020. As a Mi’kmaw Lawyer and the former Chief of Paqtnkek, Regional Chief Prosper brings with him extensive expertise in Indigenous legal matters, coupled with his valuable contributions in research, governance, and negotiation.

Grand Chief Cathy Merrick extends her heartfelt congratulations to Regional Chief Prosper, who officially commenced his duties as a Senator on July 6, 2023. The AMC commends Regional Chief Prosper on his exceptional achievement and applauds his dedication to advancing the rights and well-being of First Nations communities across the nation.
