Treaty One Territory, MB. _ Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister shuffled his cabinet today, appointing new ministers and reassigning others.
Grand Chief Arlen Dumas of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs states:
“I look forward to meeting with the new ministers and the reassigned ministers. The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs maintains that First Nations are sovereign nations. While we are developing a nation-to-nation relationship with the Government of Canada; we want to also have an effective and collaborative working relationship with the Province of Manitoba.
“I think we can move forward in a meaningful and constructive way while building a better future for First Nations citizens in Manitoba.”
“It is my hope that the newly-appointed Minister of Crown Services, Colleen Mayer, will work closely with the AMC on a number of files that are important in terms of economic development for First Nations in Manitoba.”
