AMC Congratulates Newly Re-Elected Grand Chief Garrison Settee to MKO

Winnipeg, Treaty One Territory – The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) extends sincere congratulations to Grand Chief Garrison Settee on his re-election as Grand Chief of the Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak (MKO). MKO-member Chiefs and Councillors voted for the Grand Chief today during the organization’s 43rd Annual General Assembly happening in downtown Winnipeg on Treaty One Territory. Grand Chief Cathy Merrick and the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs look forward to working with MKO to create a stronger, more unified voice when it comes to issues impacting First Nations in the North.

“On behalf of the sixty-three First Nations represented by the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, I am pleased to congratulate Grand Chief Settee on his re-election,” said AMC Grand Chief Cathy Merrick. “I know that together, with the strong mandates from the Chiefs we represent, we will champion change for Northern First Nations. The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs is dedicated to pursuing political strategies and frameworks that support unified action by Manitoba First Nations and their organizations. Together with the Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak, we will persist in advocating for the rights and interests of First Nations throughout Manitoba.
