AMC congratulates Brian Pallister on his re-election and applauds First Nations participation in the Provincial Election
Treaty One Territory – Winnipeg, Manitoba _ The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) congratulates Brian Pallister and the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba on their re-election in the 2019 Manitoba provincial election.
“I congratulate Mr. Pallister on his re-election, and I look forward to the continuation of our working relationship with him as Premier to address the issues impacting First Nation citizens in this province,” said Grand Chief Arlen Dumas. “I have offered him and his party best wishes and continued strength as they pursue a better future for Manitoba, and respond to the challenges of all citizens in this Province.”
Four weeks prior to the provincial election the AMC hosted a town hall event where First Nations citizens were given the opportunity to address their concerns to party leaders face-to-face. The event is part of the “I’m First Nation and I Vote” campaign, which empowers and encourages First Nations to participate in the upcoming provincial and federal elections.
“I am pleased to see a growing number of First Nations people participating in elections,” said Grand Chief Dumas. “I want to thank everyone who took the time to vote yesterday. I want to express my gratitude and appreciation to those First Nation candidates that ran in the various ridings throughout Manitoba. When we as First Nations citizens participate in these political processes and exercise our right to vote, we wield our influence and change the outcomes of elections.”
