AMC Chiefs-in-Assembly Elect New Manitoba AFN Regional Chief

Treaty One Territory, Manitoba – On July 24th, 2024, the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) held its 36th Annual General Assembly which included Elections for the roles of AMC Grand Chief and AFN Regional Chief. Our Assembly was held on Waywayseecappo First Nation Lands located just north of Brandon, MB. The election was conducted by Stephanie Connors. Today, the AMC is sharing the official election resultsfor AFN Regional Chief.

For the position of AFN Regional Chief, there were two (2) rounds of voting by Manitoba Chiefs in attendance. The candidates for AFN Regional Chief included: Sidney Ballantyne, Tyler Duncan, David Harper, Sheldon Kent, and Willie Moore.

In the first round of voting, 55 votes were cast. These were the results:

Sidney Ballantyne received 3 votes
Tyler Duncan received 13 votes
David Harper received 8 votes
Sheldon Kent received 14 votes
Willie Moore received 17 votes

In the second round of ballots, 54 votes were cast. These were the results:

Tyler Duncan received 7 votes
Sheldon Kent received 22 votes
Willie Moore received 25 votes

In the third and final round of ballots, 49 votes were cast, and the results are as follows:

Sheldon Kent received 23 votes
Willie Moore received 26 votes
