Welcome to the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) Annual General Assembly! This pivotal event brings together Chiefs or Proxies from all AMC member nations for critical discussions and decision-making that impact our nations.
Key Highlights of the Assembly:
- Date & Location: July 23 – 25, 2024, Waywayseecappo First Nation Land near Brandon, MB.
- Participants: Chiefs or Proxies from all AMC membership nations
- Elections: This year, we will be hosting elections for two significant positions:
- AMC Grand Chief
- AFN Regional Chief
Election Results
Round 1 of voting – Cathy Merrick was elected Grand Chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs by majority vote. AFN Regional Chief voting moved to round 2 of voting – Candidates who advances to the next round were: Tyler Duncan, Sheldon Kent, and Willie Moore
Round 2 of voting for AFN Regional Chief – No candidates received majority votes for an automatic win, so there was a 3rd round of voting – Candidates who proceeded to the final round of voting were Sheldon Kent and Williw Moore.
Round 3 of voting for AFN Regional Chief – Willie Moore was elected AFN Regional Chief for Manitoba. Congratulations!

How to get there:
Some of you have been asking about the exact location of our upcoming Annual General Assembly – we are proud to be hosting this year’s AMC Annual General Assembly on Waywayseecappo First Nation land! Chief Clearsky will be hosting our event next to their Gas bar on Hwy 10, just off Hwy 1, north of Brandon.
The event will be outdoors. While some seating will be provided, we recommend bringing a camp chair just in case.
