Treaty One Territory, Winnipeg, MB – On Friday, April 25, 2025, at 12:00 PM, First Nations leadership will gather at Oodena Circle at The Forks with one urgent message: our children deserve better now. The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC), Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO), Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak (MKO), Anisininew Okimawin and Keewatin Tribal Council (KTC) are coming together to demand immediate federal action on Jordan’s Principle.

“Jordan’s Principle is about one thing: making sure First Nations children get the care they need, when they need it,” said Grand Chief Kyra Wilson. “No child should suffer while governments make unilateral changes to services and supports for families.”

This Friday’s rally calls on all federal parties to uphold their legal and moral obligations to First Nations children.

“As the federal election comes closer, First Nations are asserting their voices. Our Nations have upheld our end of Treaty, and it is time for Canada to do the same. On April 28, our voices won’t just be heard, they’ll be counted.”

The rally will include speeches from First Nations leaders and include an Elections Canada pop-up booth to support voter access.
