Treaty One Territory, Manitoba – The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) is pleased to announce plans to expand urban First Nations services to the City of Brandon. The AMC welcomes the mayor’s endorsement as this marks an important step towards addressing critical needs and improving the quality of life for First Nations citizens residing in urban areas of Manitoba.
Under this partnership, AMC and the City of Brandon will collaborate to provide a range of essential services designed to meet the specific needs of urban First Nations individuals and families. Key initiatives of this partnership include:
- Healthcare Advocacy: Ensuring equitable access to healthcare services and advocating for culturally sensitive care.
- Treaty Card Assistance: Facilitating the process of obtaining and managing treaty cards essential for accessing rights and benefits.
- Residential Assistance Services: Assisting individuals in securing stable and suitable housing options.
- Employment Opportunities: Creating pathways to economic empowerment through job training and placement support.

AMC represents a diversity of Anishinaabe (Ojibway), Nehetho / Ininew (Cree), Anisininew (Ojibwe-Cree), Denesuline (Dene) and Dakota Oyate (Dakota) peoples.
